Amazon is reported to have confirmed a Pecos County data-center project with on-site generation

The New York Times reported on August 8 that Amazon confirmed it recently acquired a Pecos County, Texas site for a planned data center backed by new on-site generation. Pacifico Energy's related GW Ranch project previously received a state air permit with a 7.65 GW gas-generation ceiling, but that is a permitted maximum for a proposed power project, not Amazon's contracted, built or operating data-center load; Amazon has not disclosed data-center capacity, investment, delivery timing or final power contracts.

PUBLIC RESPONSE

The New York Times reported that Amazon acquired the Pecos County site and plans to use new on-site generation for the proposed data center. Capacity, investment, power contracts, construction and service dates have yet to be publicly disclosed by the relevant parties.
