REPORTED DEVELOPMENT

Nvidia is reported to have reduced the initial backstop for OpenAI's Ohio project to under $120B

Reuters, citing the Wall Street Journal, reported on August 15 that Nvidia is nearing an arrangement with OpenAI but would initially provide under $120 billion of financial backing only for the first phase of a southern Ohio project developed by SoftBank subsidiary SB Energy, below the previously reported roughly $250 billion. OpenAI is still discussing a binding lease for the full 10GW project; this does not establish an executed guarantee, a full-project lease, or approved, built or available 10GW capacity.

PUBLIC RESPONSE

Reuters said Nvidia did not immediately respond outside regular business hours and OpenAI declined to comment. By this scan's cutoff, no executed guarantee, full lease, project permit or power/delivery record had been located.
