Kinwong expects Q3 profit attributable to the parent of RMB912 million–1.089 billion, up 147.20%–195.18% sequentially. Delton forecasts nine-month attributable profit of RMB1.450 billion–1.500 billion. Subtracting its reported first half gives implied Q3 profit of RMB494 million–544 million, down 3.31%–12.19% from Q2. Suppliers exposed to AI hardware are delivering different earnings trajectories; a common year-on-year growth narrative conceals that difference.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Kinwong is converting incremental sales into profit at a higher rate. Delton must show that overseas qualification and additional capacity can create further earnings on top of an already strong base. Both companies generated first-half operating cash close to attributable earnings, yet neither covered construction-related cash expenditure. All amounts are RMB; Q3 figures are unaudited forecasts or forecast-derived estimates, while H1 and Q1 figures are reported results.[1][2][3][5]

Quarterly reconstruction changes the direction of Delton’s growth
| Company / metric | Q1 actual | Q2 derived | Q3 forecast / implied | Q3 YoY | Q3 QoQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kinwong revenue | 38.92 | 47.20 | 61.20–69.80 | +53.48%–75.05% | +29.67%–47.90% |
| Kinwong attributable profit | 2.33 | 3.69 | 9.12–10.89 | +205.46%–264.74% | +147.20%–195.18% |
| Delton revenue | 19.14 | 24.74 | Not disclosed | Not disclosed | Not disclosed |
| Delton attributable profit | 3.93 | 5.63 | 4.94–5.44 | +112.89%–134.42% | −12.19% to −3.31% |
Kinwong’s announcement covers Q3 alone; Delton’s covers the first nine months. Q2 is calculated as H1 less Q1. Delton’s Q3 equals its nine-month forecast less H1 actual earnings; the prior-year comparator is reconstructed in the same way. The table uses RMB100 million; growth rates use unrounded source amounts.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Delton’s implied Q3 profit rises 112.89%–134.42% from a year earlier while falling below Q2. The first comparison establishes a much stronger earnings base; the second shows that further sequential acceleration has not yet been demonstrated. Its forecast provides no revenue range, so shipment timing, product mix and margins cannot be separated. A demand-downturn conclusion would be equally premature.
Kinwong’s profit jump combines volume growth with possible cost recovery
Kinwong’s reconstructed Q2 attributable net margin is 7.82%. Dividing the low end of Q3 profit by the high end of Q3 revenue gives a conservative bound of 13.07%. These are independent forecast intervals, not management margin guidance or paired endpoints. Revenue growth alone cannot explain the full earnings change; product mix, the selling-price–material-cost spread, expenses and foreign exchange may all contribute.[1][3][4]
Management lists faster high-performance PCB shipments alongside cost pass-through in general-purpose products, order-mix improvement and cost reductions. H1 revenue rose 21.37% while attributable profit fell 7.38%. At the August 25 results discussion, the company reported an RMB123 million exchange loss versus an RMB38 million gain a year earlier. Management said the relevant AI products carried margins above the group average but did not disclose product-level figures. Q3’s improvement can therefore include both high-end volume and recovery from earlier pressure; the entire increase cannot be treated as a permanent AI margin premium.[1][3][7]
Pass-through determines who absorbs material inflation. A board maker buys laminates before renegotiated prices reach customer orders; growing shipments can coexist with squeezed margins when procurement costs move first. Kinwong said price adjustments vary with materials, processes and cost structure, without committing to a fixed pass-through ratio or date. Q4 should be assessed through actual margins, expenses and collections rather than turning a full order book into an earnings guarantee.[7]
Delton’s qualification progress matters; its incremental profit remains unquantified
Delton says its Thai plant completed core-customer audits and qualification and achieved cumulative profitability during the first nine months as products and capacity ramped. Cost control and mix also supported the Huangshi base. Qualification creates access to customer procurement, while cumulative profitability shows an operating contribution from the ramp. The announcement does not disclose Thai Q3 earnings or mature utilization, leaving its capacity to absorb additional depreciation, labor and inventory costs unquantified.[2]
On September 15, management expected additional Thai capacity in Q4 and other projects to release capacity progressively in 2026–2028. It expected small PCIe 6.0 server-PCB shipments in 2026 and larger volumes in 2027, conditional on CPU production schedules. Plant completion, customer qualification and platform launches have different dates. Early equipment spending consumes cash and can introduce depreciation before delayed customer platforms generate revenue.[8]
Delton said negotiated material-related price increases began reaching orders in Q2, but commercial lead times differ by customer and part number. Price arrangements are two-way. Sustainable earnings therefore require process and product value as well as pass-through; a one-off price increase cannot substitute for that capability. Undisclosed contractual terms prevent a precise calculation of each material-cost cycle’s net earnings effect.[8]
35.36% and 39.27% describe different gross margins
Delton reported H1 PCB revenue of RMB4.087 billion and cost of RMB2.642 billion, giving a 35.36% PCB gross margin. Consolidated revenue of RMB4.388 billion and cost of RMB2.665 billion imply a 39.27% group margin. Other-business revenue was RMB301 million; subtracting PCB cost from total cost gives RMB23 million of other-business cost. This mix raises the group margin. The PCB margin is the more relevant starting point for assessing manufacturing economics.[5]
A separate 39.27% in the report is domestic-sales revenue growth, which happens to be close to the reconstructed consolidated margin but measures something entirely different. Kinwong’s H1 consolidated margin was 20.22%. A cross-company comparison still requires product, customer and other-business mix; the two group figures cannot establish the size of a technology advantage.[3][5]
Cash supports earnings, but expansion consumes more
| H1 metric | Kinwong | Delton |
|---|---|---|
| Operating cash flow | 6.04 | 9.37 |
| Operating cash / attributable profit | 100.44% | 98.04% |
| Cash paid for long-term assets | 32.02 | 17.86 |
| Operating-cash coverage | 18.87% | 52.47% |
| Operating cash less those payments | −25.98 | −8.49 |
H1 operating cash was roughly 100% and 98% of attributable earnings for Kinwong and Delton, respectively. Investment spending ran faster. The table uses consolidated cash paid to acquire or construct property, plant, equipment, intangible and other long-term assets, in RMB100 million. Its final row subtracts two cash-flow statement items; it is neither company-reported free cash flow nor an incremental financing requirement.[3][5]
Kinwong’s operating cash covered 18.87% of that expenditure; Delton’s covered 52.47%. This indicates different current investment intensity, not superior project returns. Delton generated RMB2.848 billion of net financing cash in H1, primarily attributed by management to its Hong Kong listing proceeds; cash and cash equivalents increased RMB2.102 billion. This demonstrates why operating cash less construction payments is not an unfilled financing gap. Capital has reached the business; the subsequent test is whether the assets produce adequate profit and cash, rather than simply whether funding can be raised.[5]
The cash comparison also has a time limit. Kinwong’s H1 operating cash fell from RMB913 million a year earlier to RMB604 million, while Delton’s rose from RMB453 million to RMB937 million. A single period with cash close to 100% of profit does not establish a recurring working-capital release. Absolute cash, year-on-year change and investment coverage should be assessed together.[3][5]
New capacity must produce qualified output, reach customer acceptance and generate collections. Inventory and receivables can rise with scale or with shipment and payment delays; turnover and aging distinguish the cases. Overseas plants must replicate supplier qualification, logistics and yields. A foreign location alone does not accelerate cash recovery.
The next tests: Kinwong’s margin durability and Delton’s incremental return
For Kinwong, the formal Q3 report should separate gross-margin improvement from expense and exchange effects. Q4 will test whether high-end deliveries and general-purpose price adjustments persist. Slower sales growth alongside a sustained higher margin would support a more durable mix and pricing improvement. A rapid reversal from material inflation or weaker mix would instead make Q3 look more like a temporary recovery.
For Delton, Q3 revenue, cash flow and overseas contribution come first, followed by actual output from Q4 capacity additions. Incremental revenue accompanied by cash collections and profit would support improving expansion returns. Growing shipments alongside continued inventory, expense and investment demands would leave a wider gap between revenue and shareholder cash.
PCB delivery precedes server and network assembly and deployment. Earnings conversion is closer to realized hardware demand than an expansion announcement, but cannot establish energized data-center capacity, rack occupancy or rental pricing. The useful industry signal is qualified output and actual delivery. The company-level tests are margin sustainability for Kinwong and incremental returns from new plants for Delton.
